The Story JOG-LE and Beyond 2009 was planned in early 2008 and came about as a way of marking the 10th anniversary of my fathers death from Cancer in September 1999. I  read an article in the Motorcycle News about Lee Hartshorn who had done a John O’Groats to Lands End ride in memory of his mother, who also died of Cancer. The date was set and fundraising began, the chosen charities were The PKD Charity and Cancer Research UK. We left Lowestoft on the 11th of July and returned on the 18th having covered a total mileage of 2372, and with no major incidents the trip was a complete success, an amazing experience and raised £6500. Norman Kennard 14th May 1937 to 15th Sept 1999 Within no time at all,I’d decided to follow Lee’s unique route, which would take us from John O’Groats to Land’s End without using any motorways. I selected a suitable bike (below) and started recruiting fellow riders. Over the course of a few meetings we dicussed the route and within no time at all had extended it to include the 4 furthest points of mainland Great Britain. Also during the meetings it was decided we should bring the trip forward to July in an attempt to increase our chances of better weather (it turns out we picked one of the wettest weeks). This map roughly shows the route we followed
