For some time now I have fancied the idea of organising a charity motorcycle ride, the inspiration eventually came from an article published in MCN. The article was just an excerpt from Lee Hartshorn’s story, His website address was printed on the page and I felt compelled to log on and read the whole story. The background to his story was very similar to mine, in that cancer had taken someone from both our lives. The route Lee had planned & followed was definitely more appealing than riding on motorways for hours on end. In fact it was probably he’s carefully thought out route that ultimately made up my mind to go ahead with planning the event. For Lee’s full story, go to http://www.thrape.fsnet.co.uk/jogle1000forcruk/
I have setup justgiving online donations sites, follow the links below to see the pages and please donate at: www.justgiving.com/jonkennard for Cancer Research UK or www.justgiving.com/jonkennardpkd

Fundraising pace has quickened now we are into the new year, leaflet drops are taking place around local industrial estates, and a big thanks to my brother Alan for a great collection at Sanyo, and of course a big thanks to members of staff there for their generosity.
Route extended, not content with riding from the most easterly point to John O’Groats to Land’s end and back, we will also be visiting Dunnet Head, Ardnamurchan point and Lizard Point making our journey take in all 4 furthest points of mainland Great Britain. |

On the 27th Feb and 6th of March the Lowestoft Journal and Waveney Advertiser printed the story about the ride, this brought some much needed attention to the event. Hopefully we will get an updated version in the same papers sometime in late June. Thanks to everyone who made that happen.

The booking of accommodation has been the latest headache, and so far my wife Stacey has worked hard to find places that can accommodate at such a popular time of year. Looks like we’re getting there now, with a mixture of campsites and hostels etc. Big thanks to those who have been able to fit us in and also offer such great deals for charity. |

Thanks to Beccles Lions for giving us a free pitch at their Community Fayre, where we raised £150. Thanks to all those who donated and took part in our competitions. The winner of our guess how many Skittles was Mr RJ Coney of Beccles who guessed 780. The correct amount was 828. |
